About

Pay Calculators AU is a free Australian tools site for working out pay, tax, superannuation and leave. It brings together single purpose calculators for take home pay, income tax, PAYG withholding, bonuses, super guarantee contributions, annual leave and personal leave, along with plain English guides that explain how each figure is worked out.

The aim is simple. Many people want a quick estimate before payday, before starting a new job, or before accepting a salary package. This site puts the common calculations in one place, shows the result in a clear payslip style breakdown, and explains the method in ordinary language.

Who this site is for

The site is built for Australian employees first. That includes full time, part time and casual workers who want to check take home pay, understand tax withheld from a payslip, estimate leave balances, or see how much super their employer should be contributing.

Employers, payroll staff and bookkeepers are the second audience. They can use the calculators for quick checks and estimates, but the tools do not replace payroll software, award interpretation, or professional advice for a specific workplace.

All figures are in Australian dollars, and all tax calculations use the Australian financial year, which runs from 1 July to 30 June.

Where the rates come from

No rate on this site is typed in from memory. Tax rates, thresholds and the super guarantee percentage come from the Australian Taxation Office at ato.gov.au. Leave accrual rules come from the Fair Work Ombudsman at fairwork.gov.au, based on the National Employment Standards.

Each calculator is labelled with the financial year it uses, for example 2025-26, so you can see which set of rates produced the result.

Rates are re-verified every year. Each June, before the new financial year starts on 1 July, the rates are checked again against the ATO and Fair Work sources, the rates file is updated, the calculators are retested against published worked examples, and year references across the site are refreshed. If a federal budget changes tax rates, thresholds or the super guarantee, that change is folded into the same update process once the ATO publishes the final figures.

How our calculators work

Every calculator on this site uses the same method. The tax brackets, thresholds and super guarantee percentage for the financial year you select come from the tables the ATO publishes for that year, and the leave calculators follow the accrual rules in the National Employment Standards. When you enter your figures, the arithmetic runs in your own browser using those published rates. Nothing you type is uploaded to our server, stored, or shared with anyone.

Because the calculators apply the standard published rates, every result is an estimate. They cannot see your tax offsets, study debts, salary sacrifice arrangements or award conditions, so use the figures as a well-founded guide and check anything important against your payslip or the ATO. The rates behind every calculator are rechecked each July, when a new financial year starts, and updated if the published tables have changed. If a result ever looks wrong, email us the calculator name, the figures you entered and the year you selected, and we will check it against the source tables.

Your figures stay in your browser

The calculators run entirely in your browser. When you enter a salary, hourly rate or leave balance, that information is not sent to our server and is not stored by the calculators. This design was chosen on purpose, because pay information is personal.

Other parts of the site, such as email correspondence and advertising, work differently. Those are covered in the Privacy Policy.

Results are estimates only

Every result is an estimate based on the published rates and rules for the financial year selected and the information you enter. Real pay can differ because of your award or agreement, tax offsets, study debts, salary sacrifice, deductions, or details a simple calculator does not cover.

Please read the Disclaimer for the full limits of the tools, including the estimation method used in version 1. For a full worked estimate, start with the flagship Pay Calculator.

What this site is not

Pay Calculators AU is not the Australian Taxation Office and it is not the Fair Work Ombudsman. It is not a government website, and no government body endorses it.

It is not a registered tax agent, accounting firm or law firm, and it does not provide financial advice, tax advice or legal advice. It provides general information and estimates only. If your situation is complex, or a decision depends on the exact figure, check with the ATO, Fair Work, or a registered tax agent.
